The Golden Fleece was never in Greece. It hung in Colchis, in a grove, and it was a technology: a sheepskin used to catch river gold. Georgia still lives where that story was set, on the northern branch of the Silk Road that merchants opened in 568 when empires to the south went to war.
This animation follows the Golden Fleece through five states: as billboard, as cause for war, as field of dragon’s teeth, as ash, as mycelium. The last state is not metaphor. Fungi are filters, traders, healers. They connect East and West under the soil the way Georgia has connected them above it, by surviving, by rerouting, by making life acceptable again.

If the Argonauts once crossed seas in search of a mythical resource, this project suggests that today’s journeys unfold underground through mycelia networks that sustain ecosystems, transmit information, and enable survival through cooperation. Mushrooms function as metaphors for decentralized intelligence, resilience, and coevolution, offering a speculative lens through which to reflect on contemporary cultural, ecological, and technological conditions.

Through fragmented video projections and immersive sound, NEURAL COEVOLUTION constructs a non-linear environment in which visitors navigate rather than observe. Walls cease to function as boundaries; images appear as dispersed fragments; sound sources remain intentionally undefined. Meaning emerges through movement, duration, and perception.
